I teach piano, guitar, clarinet and saxophone. I also offer lessons in music theory and 'A' level Music Technology. I teach a wide range of students aged between 6 to 60. All programmes of work are tailored to the needs of the individual.
Lessons are held at my home and usually consist of a half hour session once a week. For higher grade students this would normally increase to one hour where possible.
I have been entering students for examinations with both the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Trinity/Guildhall for many years, with excellent results. However, I am aware that some students will not wish to follow the examination path and that is completely acceptable.
I have, for some years been using the examination centre at Akeley Wood School for ABRSM exams and the Summerfields School in Oxford for Trinity/Guildhall exams..
Periodically, I organise a concert for my students, the most recent being on May 14th 2011. I think it is important for students to perform in front of an audience and to have the opportunity to hear the performances of others. Please click here to see some images from the last concert that involved more than sixty students.
I have put together some FAQs about learning an instrument, practice and examinations. Please click here.
